Tiebreaker Criteria

In the event of a tie between teams, several criteria will be used in the following order to determine the higher-ranked team:

1. Better record in head-to-head games

If Team A and Team B have the same overall record, the team with the better record in head-to-head matchups will be ranked higher.

2. Better winning percentage against all teams with .500 or better record at the end of the season

This metric takes into account the strength of each team's schedule. A team with a higher winning percentage against teams that finished with a .500 record or better will be ranked higher.

WNBA Power Rankings

ESPN's WNBA Power Rankings are a weekly assessment of the top teams in the league, based on their recent performance and overall strength.

As of July 2023, the top teams in the Power Rankings are:

1. Las Vegas Aces
2. New York Liberty
3. Seattle Storm
4. Connecticut Sun
5. Chicago Sky

The Liberty have remained at the top of the rankings due to their impressive 10-1 start to the season. The Aces, Storm, Sun, and Sky have all also been playing well and are considered to be among the contenders for the WNBA championship.
