Venezuela Cruises to 4-1 Win over Nicaragua in Baseball World Classic

Suárez and Santander Lead Venezuela's Offense

Venezuela continued their impressive start in the World Baseball Classic with a dominant 4-1 victory over Nicaragua on Tuesday.

Tigers' Eugenio Suárez and Orioles' Anthony Santander powered Venezuela's offense with two hits each.

Suárez, who leads the tournament in batting average, drove in the game's first run with a single in the second inning.

Santander followed with an RBI single in the third, extending Venezuela's lead to 2-0.

Venezuela added two more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a double from Cubs' infielder Miguel Rojas.

Nicaragua's lone run came in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly from Mets' prospect Enmanuel Mejia.

Starter Jhoulys Chacín earned the win for Venezuela, allowing just one run on five hits in 4.1 innings.

The victory improves Venezuela's record to a perfect 4-0 in group play.

They are now in prime position to advance to the next round of the tournament.
